Afghan refugee accused of driving into pedestrians said ‘Allahu Akbar’ – had car attacks on computer

A man drove into almost 20 pedestrians at a busy intersection in Melbourne‘s CBD before saying ‘Allahu Akbar’ as he was arrested by an off-duty policeman, a court has been told.

Saeed Noori, 33, allegedly drove his mother’s Suzuki SUV into pedestrians outside Flinders Street Station on December 21 last year, including hitting one elderly man who later died.

Noori is facing a Melbourne Magistrates Court committal hearing on multiple counts of attempted murder and prosecutors revealed on Tuesday that images of car attacks in London, Barcelona and Charlottesville were found on his computer.
