Andy Ruiz Jr wants Anthony Joshua rematch back in New York to feel ‘comfortable’ before plotting unification against PBC stablemate Deontay Wilder

ANDY RUIZ JR announced plans to dust off Anthony Joshua in a rematch and then unify the heavyweight division against PBC stablemate Deontay Wilder.

The Snickers loving Mexican became unified champion when he caused a 25-1 upset dethroning Brit superstar Anthony Joshua, 29, of the belts.

With a rematch set for the end of the year, the only thing awaiting confirmation is whether AJ takes his shot at redemption in the UK at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.

Or returns to the scene of the crime in New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Speaking on Fox Sports, sitting next to WBC king Deontay Wilder, Ruiz, 29, revealed he is trying his best to regain home advantage – so he can conquer Joshua again and “move onto” The Bronze Bomber.

Ruiz said: “We still in negating they trying to make us go over there.

“We are trying to get it back here in New York. I’d be more comfortable here.

“Me and him (Wilder) we’re in the same team, I just got to beat Anthony Joshua and then we’ll move onto the next.”

KO king Wilder is also on board to put his green and gold belt on the line and clash for the undisputed titles against chubby champion Ruiz.

The Bronze Bomber will be cheering for the Mexican-American in the rematch against his rival AJ.

Wilder is looking to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis, and jostled in the negotiation room with Joshua to secure the money-fight.

Despite that mega-fight being dashed thanks to Ruiz’s stunning win in New York, Wilder praised the underdog hero for the new “energy” he has brought to the division.

Wilder said: “I think it’s been this way for a long time since Lennox Lewis.

“I’m just happy what you did you brought a different type of energy to the heavyweight division – a new face.

“You go and do the unexpected and change it all up.”
