REAL MADRID reportedly blocked Antonio Conte’s move to the Bernabeu after the Italian requested to bring with him a large team of staff.
The former Chelsea boss was in line to replace Julen Lopetegui at Los Blancos, until the La Liga giants pulled the plug on hiring the 49-year-old.
It had been claimed that Real had concerns over his “combustible character”, with Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino now their desired target.
According to the Times, Madrid rejected Conte’s request of having a whopping six assistant coaches.
His brother Gianluca would have likely followed him to Spain, having been by his side at Bari, Siena, Juventus, Italy and Chelsea.
The ex-Old Lady gaffer also had problems when he moved to Stamford Bridge over his large team, before Chelsea eventually bowed to his demands.
Club legend Santiago Solari is currently the caretaker manager at Madrid, having previously managed the club’s B team since 2016.
Conte – out of a job since being relieved of his duties by the Blues in the summer – is believed to have already set his sights on a new club.
