ARSENAL are plotting a move for Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico as they seek a long-term replacement for Nacho Monreal, according to reports.
The Argentine has caught the eye of Gunners boss Unai Emery after some impressive performances on the left flank for the Dutch outfit.
The full-back would be a direct replacement for the ageing Monreal, who turns 33 in February, and will also mean Sead Kolasinac is surplus to requirements at the Emirates.
The Bosnian has endured a disappointing spell for the Gunners since his move from Schalke in 2017.
He has failed to impress on the field as well as picking up numerous injuries in his time with the north London club – including a knee injury in Arsenal’s pre-season match against Chelsea in August.
The Gunners have been on a brilliant run of form of late – winning ten games on the bounce in all competitions.
However, they have been hampered with injuries in defence – with Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Laurent Koscielny on the sidelines as well as Kolasinac.
Their injuries blows mean summer signing Stephan Lichtensteiner had to start their victory against Leicester as an unnatural left-back.
