ARSENAL signing Nicolas Pepe revealed he has a soft spot for Chelsea – and even once claimed they were the only Premier League team he would join.
The £72million Gunners new-boy, 24, spoke of his love for the Blues during an interview in 2017 while still on the books of Angers.
Pepe moved to Lille shortly afterwards, despite interest from England, where he enjoyed two fantastic seasons.
Now, as Arsenal completed a deal for Pepe – just £20m up front – fans have gushed over the incredible signing.
But Gooners were left in shock after his the winger’s 2017 interview surfaced, where he said: “Chelsea is a club that would be a dream for me.
“It’s the only club in England that I would sign for.”
Of course, a lot change in two years… in 2017, Pepe was a relative unknown at Angers, while now he is one of the hottest properties in European football.
Incredibly, Pepe’s career was almost ended before it had even begun – thanks to a stolen chocolate bar.
Pepe and a group of Angers youth team-mates had been walking around a supermarket and stole a bar of chocolate, eating it without paying.
