BAFTA Television Awards 2019 nominations: Killing Eve and A Very English Scandal lead

Killing Eve and A Very English Scandal have led the BAFTA Television Awards 2019 nominations. 

Also listed for two nods are Geordie presenting duo, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, after a tumultuous year.

Sweeping the board with a whopping 14 nominations is Killing Eve, with the the hit thriller series’ leading stars Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh both up for the Leading Actress gong.

Killing Eve is also up for the Drama Series award as well as its creator, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, being nominated for the Writer: Drama gong.  

Fiona Shaw, who plays Carolyn Martens, and Kim Bodnia, who plays Konstantin, are also up for Supporting Actress and Actor at the star-studded annual extravaganza. 

Killing Eve also has a nomination for Must-See Moment, which is voted for by the public, with its chilling last scene when Even, played by Oh, stabs Villanelle, played by Comer.

Other categories the popular series is nominated for include – Costume Design, Director: Fiction, Editing: Fiction, Original Music, Photography and Lighting: Fiction, Production Design, Sound: Fiction and Titles & Graphic Identity.  

Meanwhile, A Very English Scandal has an impressive 12 nominations for the BAFTA Television Awards 2019. 

Hugh Grant has been nominated for the Leading Actor gong for his character Jeremy Thorpe, while Ben Whishaw, who plays Norman Scott, and Monica Dolan, who plays Marion Thorpe, are up for the Supporting Actress and Actor gong. 

The political miniseries has also been nominated for the categories Mini-Series, Costume Design, Director: Fiction, Editing: Fiction, Make Up & Hair Design, Original Music, Production Design, Sound: Fiction and Writer: Drama.

Also with several nominations are Patrick Melrose, Bodyguard, The Little Drummer Girl, Mrs Wilson, Bros: After the Screaming Stops and Bandersnatch.  

Benedict Cumberbatch is up for the Leading Actor gong for his role as Patrick Melrose in the mini-series, while Keeley Hawes is nominated for her role as Home Secretary Julia Montague in Bodyguard.
