HECTOR BELLERIN’S knee injury is so bad he has not even been able to have a scan on the joint.
The swelling around the 23-year-old’s left knee is so severe that doctors have not been able to put his limb under an MRI scanner.
Club medical staff fear that his season could be over at the very least, but if the knee problem is severe his recovery could mean he misses the start of next season.
Bellerin was chasing a loose ball near the half-way line when he went down in agony unchallenged with the Gunners 2-0 up against Chelsea.
The Spaniard raised his arm and immediately indicated to the referee something was wrong before yelling in pain.
He was then taken off on a stretcher, with the limb in a brace.

Most Arsenal fans realised straight away it was a severe problem, with many giving Bellerin a standing ovation as he was carried off.
It was unfortunate for Bellerin, who has recently just come back from a calf injury that saw him miss the Christmas period.
He had been enjoying some rest in the days before the Premier League clash against Arsenal’s London rivals by attending a Puma event, before turning up to the NBA match at the capital’s O2 Arena.
Bellerin has made 144 Premier League appearances since making his debut in 2014.
