Best horse racing tips for today’s action at Newbury, Musselburgh, Lingfield and Newcastle from Tom Bull

HURRAH! Newbury’s return means racing gets a glimpse of a Grade 1 track for the first time since Cheltenham.

I’ll admit it’s not been long, but I’m missing the top-class fare already. Here’s hoping we can get back in the winning groove with some winners.

3.50 Petite Jack – Remains on a decent mark despite copping a 6lb penalty for winning nicely at the track last time out.

The introduction of James Doyle looked to make a big difference and it’s encouraging that he’s in the plate once again.

The six-year-old already has the beating of a couple of these and this isn’t the strongest of contests for the grade.

3.05 Wishfull Dreaming – Always threatened to be smart when trained by Philip Hobbs but never really hit the heights.

Has rediscovered some form under the care of Sam England and produced a fine performance to win easily at this track last time.

He’s still well-handicapped on his old form and can go in again.

3.05 Musselburgh – Wishfull Dreaming

3.25 Newbury – Goodnitesweetheart

3.50 Lingfield – Petite Jack

6.00 Newcastle – International Law

3.25 Goodnitesweetheart – Knuckled down nicely to get the better of an in-form rival last time, with the pair eight lengths clear of the rest.

The runner-up and since gone on to sluice up at Taunton and he looks well-in even after a rise in the weights.

He should have too much gas with Noel Fehily replacing Kieron Edgar up top.

6.00 International Law – Broke a fairly lengthy losing run at Wolverhampton last time out, coming with a late run to overhaul a couple of more fancied contenders.

He’s only been raised 2lb for that – which looks very fair – and won over this C and D off a lower mark back in February last year.

He should have a bit more in the locker now considering his last outing came after an 104-day break.
