Biden’s secretary of state pick Tony Blinken to face scrutiny over ties to Hunter after Joe’s son requested meeting

JOE Biden’s Secretary of State pick Antony Blinken has come under fire for his close ties to the president-elect’s son Hunter Biden when he was the subject of business dealings in Ukraine and China.

Biden and Blinken have known each other since the Obama Administration, but according to leaked emails from before the election show a discourse between Blinken and Biden’s son Hunter.

Records indicate Hunter Biden tried to schedule meetings with Blinken when he was on the board of the Ukrainian energy Burisma and Blinken was deputy secretary of state.

“Have a few minutes next week to grab a cup of coffee? I know you are impossibly busy, but would like to get your advice on a couple of things,” Hunter Biden wrote in a May 22, 2015 email to Blinken.

“Absolutely,” replied Blinken. His assistant then sent a separate email on May 27, 2015 listing his schedule for that day, including a meeting with Hunter at 3:30 PM.

However, the meeting never occurred because Hunter’s brother Beau Biden died later that month.

Blinken and Hunter did then meet in July, but “they spoke about Beau and the Biden family,” wrote The Washington Post. The duo did not discuss Burisma.

However, that still prompted Senators Chuck Grassley and Ron Johnson to send a letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on November 7, 2019 asking for information.

President Trump has long campaigned that Hunter’s dealings under the Ukrainian firm while his dad was the Vice President of the United States.

This came about because Joe Biden pressured Ukraine to fire a prosecutor who was investigating Hunter’s company, but the Biden campaign had long claimed it was because the prosecutor was corrupt.
