Tasham Mahmood of Heckmondwick in West Yorkshire, said: ‘I saw the driver lose control of their vehicle and when their car started to spin, I knew what was coming.

‘There was no time to react; all I could to was brace myself for impact, which was quite a heavy head-on collision.’

The crash came after the BMW driver with no licence or registration tried to speed away from police.

After the incident, police blocked the whole road off, and ambulances tended to the injured.

Mr Mahmood said: ‘A vehicle also went into the back of my car,’

‘So I was stuck in between the BMW and an Astra. Another lady was hurt badly as well. It was such a scary experience, I still think about it today.’

Richard Browning, Director at Nextbase, said: ‘This incident shows how Dash Cams have become a crucial part of the police investigation process.

‘There are crimes committed on our roads and, even on Christmas Day, it benefits to have an extra pair of eyes on the road as you really never know what can happen.

‘Cases can always be backed up by the footage captured on a Dash Cam, which shows irrefutable evidence that can then be used to strengthen the case against a culprit.’

West Yorkshire police say they are continuing to investigate the incident.
