THE finale of Bodyguard is the most-watched episode of a drama since ­official records began, figures show.

A total of 17.1 million saw the political thriller’s climax over a 28-day period.

The series, with Richard Madden and Keeley Hawes, is also BBC iPlayer’s most successful box set, with more than 38 million requests so far.

Overnight ratings were 10.4 million after the BBC One September 23 finale.

This rose to 15.9 million after 28 days.

Viewing through PCs, laptops, smartphones and tablets gave the Broadcasters’ Audience Re­search Board’s “four screen measure” of 17.1 million.
