Britain to bask in 79F on final Indian summer weekend before suffering tail end of hurricane

The UK is set to enjoy its last blast of summer over the weekend as temperatures are expected to soar to 79F (26C) in some parts of the country before suffering the tail end of hurricane Humberto.

For the rest of today and heading into the weekend, Britain is set to expect dry, warm and sunny conditions with little in the way of cloud.

On Saturday, there is an increasing possibility of a few localised showers in the west.

Eastern and southern coastal areas, particularly in northeast Scotland, will be cooler as they battle with strong onshore winds.

Sunday morning is set to start of fine and warm but conditions will turn increasingly unsettled across the country as the day goes on.

The weekend will mark a turning point as the UK will then be faced with the tail end of hurricane Humberto which is set to bring widespread spells of rain and strong winds.

A spokesman for the Met Office, Grahame Madge, said: ‘This weekend marks a change in weather patterns as the largely fine weather gives way to more unsettled conditions, with risks of strong winds and heavy rain.

‘Ahead of the arrival of the unsettled conditions from the west we could see highs of 79F (26C) in parts of the UK, however cloud will begin to move in during the weekend from the west.’
