His boozer — The Poltimore Arms — does not have mains water or power. Instead, Steve relies on a generator and lights a fire for warmth.

The 17th century pub in Exmoor, Devon, offers only one gin, one whisky and only a few beers.

Its mascot is a foul-tempered cat called Frederick Albert Hitler.

Steve said: “We have had the richest people in the world here and I treat them all with the same disdain. Everyone pours their own drinks and I often get them to work behind the bar.

“They all love it, though. No one else talks to them like crap like I do.”

The pub is a popular rest stop for hunting groups and in sees a lot of Royal punters during the shooting season.

Shortly before Prince Harry’s marriage to Meghan Markle, the royal stopped off in the pub for a drink but was confronted by Steve, who cheekily told the Duke to “get the hell out of my pub”.

Steve told The Sun: “Harry used to come in here with his friends and I would treat them with absolute disdain and ridicule and they thought it was hilarious.

“As with everybody else I would make them pour their own pints and wanted them to make sure they felt like proper commoners.

“I was unbelievably rude to him, I would call him every name under the sun and I remember saying at one point: ‘You’re a w**ker now get the hell out of my pub.’ “But he just used to laugh his head off, he told me it was the best pub he had ever visited.

“Because my pub is out of the way Harry and his mates would have the place mostly to themselves, he loved it.”
