Bungling Chelsea accidentally reveal Kovacic permanent transfer on club’s app

BUNGLING Chelsea appear to have Mateo Kovacic’s permanent move from Real Madrid – before the midfielder’s £40million switch has been finalised.

The red-faced Blues even quoted the Croatian’s “amazing feeling” on completing the deal to “stay here” as they devoted a whole page and an interview to his arrival.

Kovacic, 25, faced an uncertain summer after impressing then-boss Maurizio Sarri last season, only for the Italian to take over Juventus.

But in the past fortnight it became clear Chelsea were still keen on keeping the former Inter Milan raider, reportedly for around £40million.

And now it seems the Blues have failed to contain their eagerness to tie up the transfer – with full-on coverage of his arrival.

Chelsea quickly took the articles down – but not before they had been spotted online.

In one piece – headlined “First feeling when you signed for Chelsea” – the 2018 World Cup finalist reveals his delight at the move.

Kovacic is reported as saying: “It was an amazing feeling to sign for Chelsea, first on line and now permanently.

“It is a fantastic club, with great team-mates and we play a good style of football.

“I am very proud to be staying here and very proud to be a Chelsea player”.

Yet for the past week Frank Lampard, not Kovacic, has been the name Blues fans have been twitching to check for on their phones and apps.

Stamford Bridge legend and current Derby chief Lampard is edging ever closer to a return as Sarri’s replacement.

But now it appears supporters might have to wait a few more days.

Lamps’ fast-track appointment to the managerial job he has craved might not be confirmed until the Blues report back for pre-season training next Friday.
