It emerged earlier this week that The Bachelorette frontrunner Charlie Newling has a ‘secret child’ from a previous relationship.
And despite being a father to an eight-year-old son, the 31-year-old builder has made the surprising decision not to mention this to Ali Oetjen, 32.
However, in an interview published on Thursday, Charlie was asked directly if he has ‘anything to hide’ – and his response was very telling indeed.

Appearing to choose his words carefully, he said: ‘I think we all [have something to hide]. I can’t think of them off the top of my head, but nothing I’m too ashamed of.’
During Wednesday’s episode of The Bachelorette there was no mention of the fact Charlie has a son, despite the challenge being centered around raising children.
He even said during the babysitting task that he hoped he could use the opportunity to show Ali he would be a ‘good dad’ if they had children together.

‘I really want some one-on-one time with her, it’s really important to show Ali that I’m husband material as she said and a good dad if it comes to us having kids,’ he said.
This moment certainly didn’t go unnoticed on twitter, with many fans questioning why Charlie had failed to mention that he already has a child.
‘When is Charlie going to tell her he has a son?’ one fan tweeted.
Another wrote: ‘If this task is not the perfect time for Charlie to tell Ali he already has a child, I don’t know what is.’
‘I can’t comment on this. You have to go through my publicist’: Charlie failed to discuss his child with Daily Mail Australia earlier this week but later confirmed it was true
The child was born on September 24, 2010 at 2:21pm weighing 3.13kg. (Daily Mail Australia has chosen not to identify the boy or his mother)
Daily Mail Australia discovered Charlie was a father last week, but he refused to comment and Network Ten’s publicity department ignored multiple phone calls.
Eventually, the tradesman confirmed the news to NW magazine on Monday.
‘I chose not to speak publicly about my child as I wanted to ensure their privacy was protected,’ he told the magazine.
