Back with another lesson in CLEAVAGE CLASSROOM.
Why did the Navy build a “Star Destroyer” looking ship?
WELCOME to Futuristic looking weapons that ACTUALLY EXIST…
Personnel Halting And Stimulation Response (PHASR) Rifle
“This crazy looking weapon first appears like an alien-technology or something out of a science fiction flick…”
“…It’s actually a non-lethal incapacitation device designed to temporarily blind and disorient targets. The PHASR rifle fires a low-intensity laser beam with a blinding effect and is perfect for a variety of situations where the aim is to disable the target.”

YF 23 Black Widow II
The prototype Stealth fighter that lost USAF contract battle to its competitor: the F-22 Raptor.
PL-01 Stealth tank
Where’s this wild design from???
Poland of all places, with tech from the Swedish CV90120-T light tank, is developing a “Stealth-ish” Light Tank.
The primary weapon of the PL-01 is a 105mm OR it can have a 120mm cannon fitted within the unmanned turret. The cannon will be able to shoot both conventional projectiles and guided anti-tank missiles. It has an automatic loader for its main cannon, which ensures a fire rate of 6 shots per minute.
(PL-01 Stealth tank continued)
As for “Stealth”, that’s subject for debate…but it probably does give off a smaller “blip” on the enemy’s radar.
Anyways, it looks pretty darn cool.
This Swedish fighter jet was built in the same factory that the iconic modern “Konigsegg” super cars are currently built in (and tested for top speeds, on the Draken’s old runway).
XM25 Counter Defeliade Target Engagement (CDTE)
This baby has a killer nickname…”The PUNISHER”.
The XM25 is a semi-automatic grenade launcher that fires HE “Airburst Projectile”.
Mounted above the launcher is a laser range-finding system allowing soldiers to calculate the distance to target for most effective combat use against the bad-guys…
“The Punisher” fires High-Explosive (HE) “Airburst Projectiles” which detonated above enemies and then fragments “shower-down” on the enemy’s head.
This airburst technology has been around since WW2 (mortars) but the distance to explode in the air was set MANUALLY.
NOW, the laser give exact distance to set the explosion.
Why is this a bid deal?
Let’s say the enemy is hiding behind a barrier…then the XM25 could fire a round that would NOT explode until the airburst grenade round was PAST the barrier.
Meaning…MORE killer frag hits the enemy.
Night vision goggles give soldier’s a wider “panoramic” view.
Electromagnetic Rail Gun
“This monster cannon is actually the culmination of over a decade’s worth of development and testing. An electromagnetic rail gun capable of firing projectiles at over 4,500mph and smashing through concrete structures 100 miles away.”

Boeing Bird of Prey
Used to research future Stealth design.
Anti-Drone hand held Surface-to-Air defense system.
Prototype ship that was re-purposed and used to test Stealth capabilities of ships.
“Since the 1990s, the American Air Force Research Laboratory has been involved in the design, development and testing of a hypersonic propulsion system with a view to creating a missile capable of Mach 6 (4,000mph). The result is the Boeing X-51 Waverider, an unmanned scramjet aircraft designed to be launched from a B-52 bomber or F-35 fighter.
Still a work in progress, the X-51 Waverider has shown plenty of promise during testing reaching speeds of over 3,000 mph.”

Comanche Stealth helicopter
(Prototype lost US Army contract to the AH-64 Apache)
“Precision-Guided Firearms are designed to take the missile lock-on system from fighter jets and apply them to traditional long-range rifle systems…”
(Precision-Guided Firearms continued)
“…These firearms use target tracking, advanced fire control and heads-up display technologies to help guide a bullet to its target and account for human error to ensure a higher probability of hitting the target first time, even at long range.”

YAL-1 Airborne Laser
Looks like a boring plane with a big “nose” up-front…
(YAL-1 Laser continued)
Yep, America’s already working on blasting bad-guys from the air…with freakin’ Lasors.
Black Knight Unmanned Combat Vehicle
“The Black Knight Unmanned Combat Vehicle is a prototype unmanned combat vehicle with the appearance of a small tank and the firepower to match. A 30mm cannon and 7.62mm coaxial machine gun, combined with the ability to be deployed from a military transport aircraft make this a combat vehicle to be reckoned with.”

Yep, Germany is also getting in on the HEL which stands for High Energy Laser.
Remember those smart nerds studying Wave-Lengths?
Who knew that they’d actually be building the future “Star Wars” weapons.
(Which is awesome)
This concept helped lower the ship’s “blip” on the enemy’s radar…
(Patrol Hydrofoils continued)
More importantly, the reduced drag gave the Hydrofoils a high-speed
capability while at Sea.
B-2 “Spirit” Stealth bomber.

Canadas Next Generation Smart Gun
“The Canadian military is developing this futuristic rifle. It can hold a standard semi-automatic rifle as well as a shotgun or grenade launcher attachment.”

Yep, this gun can shoot around the corners without exposing the shooter.
ANSWER to the “Star Destroyer” ship:
“Independence-Class” Littoral Combat Ships (LCS)
These 3 pronged ships are specifically designed for “Littoral combat”. Meaning, they can operate in SHALLOW waters.
Its unique design spreads out the ship’s mass by displacing water at three points.
In turn, they can enter waters that larger aircraft carriers are to large for…providing a closer platform for ground troops to get supplies and US Marines to hit the beaches fighting.
The Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) can also provide firepower from the 55mm “Mk 110” gun up front.
Its rear helicopter deck can carrier the MH-60R/S Seahawk helicopter. This gives troops quick dust-off capabilities for injured troops…and Hellfire missile firepower for hitting targets with a little “payback”.
Massive power churns out of the water-jet propulsion thrusters…with capabilities of hitting a top speed of 51-mph.
These 007 Bond villain meets “Star Destroyer” looking weapons are already being deployed around the world.
But I’ve heard…
…I’ve heard that rough waters = big time sea sickness.
“Independence-Class” Littoral Combat Ships haven’t gained the hearts of many Marines, just yet, but that’s common for any new weapon.
The YF-23 design could be argued to be the most AHEAD of it’s time fighter jet ever built.
I’ll do a future follow-up post on,
“crazy prototype Aircraft that never saw actual Service”.
Until then, let’s END with an unexpected FUTURE LOOKING mean weapon…

This futuristic looking submachine gun was built by a Belgium gun manufacture, “FN Herstal”.
Here’s the funny part: they were originally designed for PDW.
What’s PDW mean?
(FN P90 continued)
…PDW stands for:
Personal Defense Weapon…as in, guard your HOME.
Needless to say, the FN P90 is used by NATO Special Ops Forces and Anti-Terrorist teams around the world.
(FN P90 continued)
FN P90s may look futuristic (unless you’ve played 007 on Nintendo) but they’ve been in production since 1991.
If it weren’t for the upgraded 50-round magazine…she could pop-off pews at a rate of 900 Rounds-Per-Minute.
ABOVE picture of Austrian Spc. Ops. Force unit,
“Spezialeinsatzkräfte” training with the FN P90.
They weigh in at a mere 5.6-Lbs. (6.6-pounds with 50-round magazine).
Lite, small, sleek edges…which is why SOF teams take the FN P90 to Close-Quarters combat missions.
Hope ya learned something today.
I have a “PART 2” futuristic looking weapons in the works.
Better add CLEAVAGE. -Rick
