A RAIDER whose gang stole £4million in gems from an upmarket jewellers has been jailed after four years on the run.

Mickael Jovanovic, 27, and his accomplices targeted Boodles in London’s Mayfair by posing as a Russian tycoon’s aides.

The 27-year-old was jailed for three years and eight months at Southwark crown court.<br />

They agreed to buy seven diamonds and sent a woman called Anna to the shop to inspect them.

But she swapped the gems for pebbles and left.

The gang fled to France but police identified them on CCTV and issued arrest warrants.

Another gang member was jailed shortly after the theft in 2016.

Jovanovic, from Paris, was extradited from Italy in January.

He admitted conspiracy to steal and was jailed for three years and eight months at Southwark crown court.
