Speaking in yesterday’s daily coronavirus briefing, the Prime Minister said the latest changes would allow friends and families to see each other for the first time in months, giving Brits a new lease of freedom.

Mr Johnson said: “We will now allow people to meet in gardens and other outdoor spaces. This means friends and families can now see their loved ones.

“I know for many this will be a long awaited and joyful moment.”

  • People can play golf in groups of four, and tennis doubles from Monday
  • Schools will open on June 1 – but only for children in reception, year one and year six.
