After wowing the judges with a toe-loop, a lunging combination with knee slide, and the headbanger, Wes told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: ‘That was incredible. Last week, I was so disappointed. I’m over the moon, that’s the scariest thing I have ever done.’

Phil said to Vanessa: ‘To do a headbanger in week five, that’s two weeks before you even tried with Jake Quickenden, you must really trust him.’

To which the 22-year-old skater gushed: ‘I knew he was ready and he is, it’s great.’

The judges were quick to commend their ‘great partnership’. Shaking his hand, Christopher Dean said: ‘First of all congratulations. My goodness. You don’t very often see the celebrity do the headbanger.

Tonight it was right on form, you did a headbanger and you’re flying tonight. ‘

Jason Gardiner chimed: ‘That’s what I call reaching for the stars, you two are such a wonderful partnership. To pull off a headbanger full credit to you.’

Jayne Torvill added: I was impressed, it is a great partnership, you have  to have that  trust.  The skating has got so much better.’

On Saturday, Jane’s co-star Gemma Collins confessed she had been sobbing over taking another huge tumble on the ice after receiving treatment for her injured knee ahead of Sunday’s show.

The reality star complained she was in ‘absolute agony’ as she bemoaned she had been crying via her Instagram stories on Saturday evening.

Gemma, 38, informed her 1.2million followers about her fall earlier on in the day as she prepared to take to the ice rink again.

She lamented: ‘The night before dancing on ice I’ve had another fall today. I’m in absolute agony. I’ve been crying like I don’t know what.’
