Actor Danny, 58, is conscious of losing weight on the show like other contestants, so is eating a high-calorie diet to stop that happening.

Danny told The Mirror: “Some people here have lost a stone already but if I lost a stone I wouldn’t be able to do these numbers. So I am eating.

“For breakfast this morning I had roast lamb, roast potatoes, cabbage and carrots.

“Then I came in and had two sausages and baked beans in the studio. And then lunch, and dinner.”

Danny also revealed that he has given up booze during the competition as there’s no way he can “do a jive like that” with a hangover.

The actor revealed that Joe Sugg isn’t drinking and he’s only 24 – and he wants to keep up with him.

Danny scored the first 10 of the series last week, so whatever he’s doing is working.

Speaking on BBC Two spin-off show It Takes Two alongside Amy, Danny said he had passed out during rehearsals at the BBC’s Elstree studios in Hertfordshire last Friday.

Danny has said he doesn’t want to lose any weight on the show – hence his diet of lamb for breakfast

He said: “It’s cardio, fitness. I haven’t moved like that since a long time. You worry about slowing down and if you slow down it’s a bit of a no-no.

The Red Dwarf star, 58, added that his knees were screaming “louder than Amy” following their performance on Saturday.

Their energetic jive to Flip, Flop And Fly by Ellis Hall got a standing ovation from the audience and all the judges – apart from Craig Revel Horwood.

They received a total of 37 points out of a possible 40, sending them to the top of the leaderboard.

Danny added that it had taken him a day to process the fact that he had scored the first 10 of the series.

Sun Online Showbiz revealed that Strictly’s Dianne Buswell was seen grinning as she left a hotel with Joe Sugg amid rumours of romance.
