Barron Trump is just 13 years old, but he’s already shaping up to be the tallest person in his family.
The first son towered over his parents, President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump, when they returned to the White House on Sunday after a two-week vacation at his dad’s New Jersey golf club.
The teen also seemed to be trying out a new look. Instead of his usual preppy polo shirt and khakis, he donned an all-black outfit and a silver curb chain, though his T-shirt was still Ralph Lauren.
Just like dad: Barron Trump, 13, towered over his father, President Donald Trump, when they returned to the White House on Sunday afternoon
Return: Trump, his wife Melania, and their son Barron arrived home following their two-week vacation at his New Jersey golf club
Teenager: Barron wore a thick silver chain around his neck, though it was partially hidden underneath his T-shirt
While he may be the president’s son, he looked like any other American teen in his untucked T-shirt and white Nike sneakers as he traveled with his family.
Trump was wearing his standard navy blue suit and red tie, though this time he opted for red and blue stripes. Melania, meanwhile, donned a forest green skirt, a casual white shirt, and floral Christian Louboutin stilettos.
Barron appears to even taller than the last time he was photographed, though his impressive height should come as no surprise.
His father is 6 feet, 3 inches, while his mother is 5 feet, 11 inches. Barron looked to be a few inches taller than both of his parents, even with Melania wearing sky-high heels.
The youngest Trump seems to be taking after his half-brother Eric Trump, who is also slightly taller than their father at 6 feet, 4 inches.
Barron and his family were pictured boarding Air Force One in New Jersey on Sunday afternoon after their summer vacation at his father’s Bedminster golf club.
The trio arrived back at the White House a short time later and was spotted stepping off Marine One, closely followed by Melania’s parents Amalija and Viktor Knavs.
See the resemblance? Barron is looking more and more like his father every day
New look: Barron was dressed in a black Ralph Lauren T-shirt, which he wore untucked, and matching pants
Viktor, 77, and Amalija, 74, regularly travel with the first family after retiring from their respective jobs as a car salesman and pattern-cutter for a children’s clothing company in Slovenia.
A lawyer for the first lady’s parents confirmed last year that the Knavs had taken an oath of U.S. citizenship on August 9, in New York City.
Viktor was born in the town of Radeče, Slovenia, while Amalija hailed from the village of Raka before they moved to Novo Mesto and then Sevnica where they raised their daughter Melania.
The couple also has another daughter, Ines Knauss, 50, who works as an artist and is reported to have remained very close to her sister.
Their appearance came after Trump admitted that Apple’s CEO Tim Cook had made a ‘very compelling argument’ about how paying tariffs would make it difficult for his company to keep competing with the likes of Samsung.
Trump hosted the Apple CEO for dinner at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey on Friday.
Accessories: The first son topped off his all-black outfit with white Nike sneakers
Nice gesture: The president waited for his wife and their son to step off Marine One before they made their way back to the White House together
Growth spurt! Barron appears to have grown by almost a foot since his father’s inauguration in January 2017, when he was several inches smaller than the President, and his mother
He revealed on Sunday that Cook had spoken of how difficult it would be for Apple to compete with Samsung if his company had to pay tariffs.
Cook said Samsung did not face the same hurdle because the majority of its manufacturing occurs in South Korea, Trump said of their conversation.
‘I thought he made a very compelling argument,’ Trump told reporters on Sunday.
Trump has ordered 10 per cent tariffs on $300 billion in goods being imported from China.
His meeting with Cook came just one day after Apple announced it had invested about $60 billion in the U.S. and currently employs some 90,000 people in the country.
Many of the tech giant’s products are assembled in China and the company opposes incoming tariffs — an issue Trump is fixated on — of 10 per cent on goods manufactured in China, which is due to come into force on September 1.
In response to that news, Trump tweeted ahead of their meeting: ‘Having dinner tonight with Tim Cook of Apple. They will be spending vast sums of money in the U.S. Great!’
Family: The Trumps stepped off Air Force One together after arriving at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Sunday evening
It’s in his genes: Barron clearly gets his height from his parents. Trump is 6 feet, 3 inches, while Melania clocks in at 5 feet, 11 inches
Growing up: Barron was noticeably taller than his mother, even with her wearing sky-high Christian Louboutin heels
Close: Barron stayed close to his mother as they boarded Marine One together
Trump has previously rejected Apple’s calls for an exemption on its products, tweeting in July the company should, ‘Make them in the USA, No Tariffs!’
His administration announced last week that tariffs on some goods would be delayed until December.
All together: The family was joined by Melania’s parents, Amalija and Viktor Knavs, who were also spotted getting off Marine One and arriving back at the White House
Speaking to reporters after arriving back at the White House on Sunday, Trump said the economy was ‘doing very well’ and dismissed concerns of a recession, offering an optimistic outlook after last week’s steep drop in the financial markets.
Larry Kudlow, Trump’s top economic adviser, also played down fears of a looming recession and predicted the economy will perform well in the second half of 2019.
In Sunday television interviews, he said that consumers are seeing higher wages and are able to spend and save more.
‘No, I don’t see a recession,’ Kudlow said. ‘We’re doing pretty darn well in my judgment. Let’s not be afraid of optimism.’
A strong economy is key to Trump’s reelection prospects. Consumer confidence has dropped 6.4 per cent since July.
The president has spent most of the week at his golf club in New Jersey with much of his tweeting focused on talking up the economy.
Kudlow acknowledged a slowing energy sector, but said low-interest rates will help housing, construction, and auto sales.
