EASTENDERS’Chantelle Atkins discovered she was pregnant just moments after being brutally beaten by Gray again.
In shocking scenes that aired tonight, the character – played by Jessica Plummer- was punched in the stomach by her abusive husband.
The lawyer – who is played by actor Toby Alexander Smith in the BBC soap – flew into a rage following a family party after he felt left out and started a fight about her using the joint account.
The manipulative brute later pleaded with her to forgive him and insisted it was all her fault.
Chantelle decided to forgive him before heading to the bathroom to do a pregnancy test, which comes out positive.
Will Gray’s attack have hurt their unborn baby?
EastEnders fans were left stunned in July when Gray showed his true colours and violently attacked his wife, making it clear this wasn’t the first time this had happened.
The solicitor – who is played by actor Toby Alexander Smith in the BBC soap – had presented the image of a mild-mannered dream husband in public, but in shocking scenes it became clear Gray was a cruel physical and mental abuser of his wife.
The show’s boss Kate Oates, recently revealed there is a lot more to come in this powerful storyline.
She said: “Chantelle and Gray’s domestic abuse story has built quite gently, but as it continues we’ll be pushing it.
“We’ve deliberately built this public perception of who Gray is and the kind of marriage they have. There’s great stuff coming up.”
