With temperatures peaking in the UK at over 30 degrees this week, it’s not only our gardens that our drying up.
Sex in such heat can be hot, sticky and some find it rather unpleasant.
Don’t let your sex life cool-off despite the heat.[/caption]
But even though temperatures are soaring outside, that doesn’t mean things need to cool down in the bedroom.
Our sex and relationship expert Annabelle Knight is here to help.
She has put together her top tips on how to still have mind blowing sex during the Mediterranean Melt.
Indulge in slow and sensual sex
Annabelle suggests grinding instead of thrusting during sensual sex.[/caption]
“This is a great opportunity to dial things down and re connect during sex,” says Annabelle.
“Instead of thrusting, have your partner grind against you.
“This type of sex is far less energetic but far better for continued external stimulation, which will help you reach climax though penetration alone.
“Positions such as spooning are also great for lazy, low temperature play.”
Sex in the shower
“Turn down the temperature of the water to something more comfortable and away you go.
“If you’re using lube though (and I highly recommend you do) remember to opt for a silicone based one as this won’t wash away with the stream of the water.
You can keep cool and get your kicks while in the shower. Win, win.[/caption]
“If you suddenly find you have a penchant for shower sex then products from companies like ‘sex in the shower’ make strong suction cup handles and grips to make it easier and safer.”

Enjoy temperature play
“Sex toys are great for helping you to cool down during love making, especially if you get a little bit adventurous with temperature play,” Annabelle says.
“Any solid toy, made from metal or glass would be fabulous.
“All you need to so is plunge your toy in a bowl of cool or cold water before play.
“Use it to massage tired and aching muscles before insertion and enjoy the cool sensations and internal stimulation.”
Give each other a cool massage
“Keep your lube or massage oils in the fridge, pop them in for half an hour or so before play to give them a chance to chill then give or receive a sensual massage with them.
“You can team this with your chilled sex toy for added pressure and extra sensations.
“A good water based lube is great to use in masturbation, sex, and with sex toys and condoms.
“This one from Love Honey has a handy pump action bottle so is completely mess free.”

Keep cool in sexy satins
“Lingerie can be made of synthetic materials that aren’t all that breathable, if you’re one for putting on a show make sure the material your lingerie is made from good quality or breathable,” explains Annabelle.
“Silks and satins are cooler, as are cottons and linens.
“Just take a look at the labels and see which ones will keep you cool while you turn up the heat.”
Have Al fresco sex
“The trick with sex outdoors is to not get caught!
Al fresco sex in the shade is a great idea![/caption]
“Firstly find a secluded shaded spot for your session and double check that you’re quite alone.
“When it comes to outdoor sex standing positions are best, especially when it’s hot.
“You’ll avoid rolling into any thistles or briars for one thing and for the other they can be done with minimal skin on skin contact, meaning you’ll stay much cooler, standing sex is also great if you need to make a quick getaway.
“Sex outdoors is perfectly legal, just make sure it’s not in a public place.”
Move out of the bedroom
“Bring sex out of the bedroom and into the kitchen, this is especially good if you have a work surface near your fridge.
“Just open the door and away you go, you’ve basically got air-conditioning in the most opportune of places, giving you a cool blast whilst you get down to it.
“If there’s no surface near your fridge the floor will do just fine, just make sure you shut your blinds.”
“So, this isn’t an exclusive sex tip but it’s definitely one worth sharing, especially if you’re working up a sweat in the bedroom,” says Annabelle.
“Keep a couple of glasses of cold water on your bedside tables and remember to have a drink, even in your post coital haze!
“Remember this heat wave is no laughing matter, if at any point during sex you start to feel unwell or dizzy then take a break, drink some water and cool yourself down. There’s nothing sexy about making yourself unwell!”
