Police told Nine News the elderly woman was 90 years old.
It’s unclear how the woman died, and how long she was in the water before she was discovered – but she remained there until police arrived around 9am.
After they arrived on the scene, police established the location a crime scene and sectioned off the area with police tape.
Water police are believed to investigating the scene and locals have been asked to avoid the area until further notice, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.
Police confirmed that the woman’s death was not suspicious and are currently preparing a report for the coroner.
Temperatures were close to freezing overnight in the Daylesford area.
More to come.
