HER musical CV boasts collaborations with Calvin Harris, Diplo and Major Lazer – and now Ellie Goulding can add Sir David Attenborough to the list.
I can reveal the unlikely duo have teamed up to record the soundtrack for nature documentary king Sir David’s first Netflix series, Our Planet.

After being recruited by him, Ellie has recorded what is being dubbed an “environmental anthem” — entitled In This Together — at London’s Abbey Road Studios.
It has been written by Oscar-winning composer Steven Price, who was behind the music in space movie Gravity.
Backed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the track is destined to top the charts when the eight-part series drops in 192 countries on April 5.
Ellie, an Environment Global Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations, is a long-standing fan of Sir Dave’s — naming his Galapagos documentary, about the Pacific Ocean isles, as her all-time favourite.
David personally recruited Ellie and is hoping she can ‘help him bring the environmental cause to the young generation’[/caption]
A source said: “Ellie has been trying to work with David for years and was gobsmacked when she was asked to do so, for what is going to be his biggest global documentary project yet.
“He was well aware of her environmental work, he wanted nobody else and he hopes Ellie and Netflix can help him bring the environmental cause to the young generation.”
I have now had a glimpse of the lyrics, which include lines such as: “I can hear the whole world saying it’s now or never. ’Cos it’s not too late if we change our ways and connect the dots.”
Ellie and Sir David united in public for the first time for the launch of the Netflix series earlier this month, at an event in London hosted by the World Wildlife Fund.
The series is his first step away from the BBC and will show a range of habitats from the remote Arctic wilderness to the vast landscapes of Africa[/caption]
Sir David’s new show is his first major step away from the BBC and will feature his narration over footage of the planet’s most precious and fragile habitats.
It was filmed in 50 countries, with 600 members of crew working for more than 3,500 days.
Ellie has been hoping to use Sir David’s voice on a track since at least 2014 — when she told The Sun: “I’ve written a lot of songs about relationships and break-ups. I feel like my next album is going to be about the beginning of the universe and also watching documentaries and loving David Attenborough — his voice and his knowledge is amazing.
“If I could somehow utilise his voice in a recording with me, it would be awesome — a chance to make a point with my music and his authority.”
It’s David’s turn to repay the favour.

Hunger’s no yolk for Paddy
IT’S no brekkie, no likey for Paddy McGuinness.
The new Top Gear presenter had a meltdown during a hotel stay after he asked for two poached eggs – and was told they had run out of the breakfast staple.

He kicked off at staff at Nottingham’s Mour Hotel, leaving one waitress in tears.
A source said: “He was filming for Top Gear and relying on having a big breakfast before a full day’s work but turned up to the restaurant just as it was closing.
“When he was told they hadn’t got any eggs left, he got really mad. It was weird how mad he got, and one staff member cried. The manager stepped in and sent someone out to get eggs.”
The Friends star was a surprise addition to the presenting line-up along with Chris Evans in 2016, after the departures of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. Chris quit after just one series.
Jeremy lashed out at a Top Gear producer in 2015 because he was told he could not order a sirloin steak after a day of filming.
After Paddy’s diva fit, it looks like he is picking up where Jez left off.
Russ stung by desertion
RUSSELL Brand has been dumped by no fewer than 60,000 friends – after his army of beloved “pet” bees buzzed off from the hive in his garden.
Comic Russell has had the honey-makers – a few of whom seem to have landed on this page – since 2017 and he has posted photos of himself in bee-keeping kit.

But when he checked on the hive after a recent trip to Sainsbury’s, they had gone.
Russell, left, kept the bees at his home in Henley, Oxon, where he lives with wife Laura, their two daughters, two cats, two dogs and ten chickens. A source said: “He was pretty cut up.
“He got back from Saino’s to check on the honey but they had all flown away and left him.”
There’s got to bee a comedy sketch in this story.

Country legend Dolly encouraged Myleene to do so after serenading the Smooth Radio host on the show yesterday.

Anguish for Ms Banks
MS Banks is gearing up for the biggest gig of her life – filling in for Nicki Minaj on the rapper’s collaboration with Little Mix at the Brit Awards on Wednesday.
But the South Londoner is still grieving the death of her close friend and fellow hip-hop artist Cadet, real name Blaine Johnson.

Bella’s out all weekend
THE Weeknd is all smiles with girlfriend Bella Hadid as they celebrated his 29th birthday.
The singer flashed his gold teeth for a snap with supermodel Bella, who wore matching camo for the bash in New York with a load of their pals.
The couple started dating in April 2015 but briefly split the next year, shortly before an awkward encounter on the runway of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
I bet he wishes he’d been wearing camo then.
Jen’s date disaster
JENNA Coleman is so used to turning down men, it’s becoming a bit too second nature.
The Victoria actress and former Doctor Who star, who is dating co-star Tom Hughes, admitted her most embarrassing moment came when she knocked back a shop worker who she mistakenly thought was coming on to her.

She said: “I was buying a sandwich at Leeds train station. The man said to me: ‘Do you want to go for a drink?’
“I said: ‘I’m so sorry, I’ve got a boyfriend.’ And he replied: ‘No, it’s a meal deal – if you take a sandwich, you can get a drink as well’.”
I hope she grabbed her can of Doctor Who – sorry, Dr Pepper – and ran.
