He was found not-guilty on a horrifying charge of a gang raping Charity when she was underage, though viewers know he did this.

As the verdicts were slowly read out, the Dingles rejoiced quietly as Charity teared up.

The judge told the evil copper: “You have been found guilty of crimes that were acts of calculated, cynical wickedness.

“I commend Miss Dingle for her fortitude. Without her courage I have no doubt you would continue to pose a risk to vulnerable people.

Charity sobbed as her abuser was convicted
The Dingles turned up to support Charity in her ordeal

“You are a dangerous predator who abused a position of the highest trust.

“Behaviour such as yours can only be met by such a prison sentence of significant length, I therefore sentence you to a prison term of 30 years.

“You will be subject to registration on the sex offenders’ register for life. Take him down.”

Viewers were left emotional by the scenes and rejoiced but were left broken-hearted by Charity’s reaction.

It wasn’t such a happy ending for Charity who was left broken by the trial despite the verdict.

At the end of the episode she asked Vanessa to leave her as she slept, but instead she broke down sobbing alone.
