Eurovision fans convinced show opener was major dig at UK’s 2007 entry Scooch who finished in 22nd place

EUROVISION fans are convinced show opener was major dig at UK’s 2007 entry Scooch who finished in 22nd place.

The 90s band starring David Ducasse, Natalie Powers, Caroline Barnes and Russ Spencer failed to impress viewers as they dressed up as flight attendants.

An aeroplane was built onto the stage for the show opener of Eurovision 2019

Tonight the show kicked off with an enormous plane built on the stage which brought in icons from years gone by in the competition for an epic performance.

It led some viewers to believe it was a tribute to Scooch.

One said: “I didn’t realise #Scooch was the theme for this year’s #eurovision opening.”
Another said: “Is it me, or is this intro a bit #Scooch inspired? #Eurovision.”

Someone joked: “So nice that #Scooch were asked to open @Eurovision @bbceurovision #Eurovision #DareToDream.”

Another claimed: “Maybe #Scooch was just a few years ahead of its time #Eurovision.”

Someone else remarked: “Wasn’t there a British #Eurovision act once that was based on flight? #Scooch.”

David Ducasse recently revealed future plans for Scooch to reunite for their 20th anniversary.

He told Metro: “We’ve probably spent more time talking to each other this year than we have in a good while.

“It’s an exciting time for us.

“We don’t want to step back into Scooch full time, we want to keep the legacy.”

The group sung More Than I Needed To Know, The Best Is Yet To Come and For Sure.

Tonight fans were buzzing with excitement as acts including Dana International and Nadav Guedj returned to the stage for an all-stars performance.
