A family from the U.K. are getting a lot of attention for a recent ad they posted on the internet.
While classified ads searching for a new nanny are not unusual, the eye-popping salary and job requirements these parents included definitely make their position stand out.
The listing for work as a part-time nanny in Brookmans Park, U.K. features an admittedly “unusual request” for someone who will dress up as a Disney princess to entertain a pair of 5-year-old twins.
“Like most 5-year-olds, our girls are obsessed with Disney and we feel this would be the best way to communicate some important values,” the ad posted to a childcare website reads.
“We know this isn’t a normal request for nannies, however we think it would be a great way to teach our girls about things like determination, compassion, fearlessness and ambition from strong yet relatable female role models like Princess Tiana, Princess Anna, Belle and Cinderella.”
The Disney-obsessed parents are looking for someone who will tend to their kids while changing costume once a month, switching between characters like Princess Jasmine and Rapunzel to keep the twins entertained.
While you would be expected to handle all the usual jobs of a nanny, the family also expects you’ll bring the “creative flare” befitting a part-time princess to the job.
“The role involves picking the girls up after school, four days a week, arranging a variety of Disney-related activities (arts and crafts, baking, singing, etc.), cooking dinner and potentially putting them to bed if we’re late home from work,” they explain.
Perhaps to make up for the embarrassment of dressing up as Elsa from Frozen every day, the family is also offering an above-average salary.
The lucky princess who lands the job will take home $53,999 a year plus have the price of their costumes refunded and get 25 vacation days.
“Again, we know this isn’t exactly a normal job offer, but we think it’s a great opportunity for someone to get really creative and add a little magic to our girl’s lives!” the parents say.
While some childcare workers have scoffed at the ad, others say they’ve found their calling and are jumping at the chance to become a part-time princess to a pair of little girls.
