Former England striker Darren Bent arrested after finding man at family home with estranged wife

Former England footballer Darren Bent was reportedly arrested after an argument with his estranged wife when he found another man in their home.

The 35-year-old striker arrived at the house at around 6am to find the man’s car parked in the driveway, according to the Sun.

He was told the man was upstairs with model Kirsty Maclaren, who the ex-Tottenham and Aston Villa forward no longer lives with.

Bent then drove around the corner so the man could leave but then returned to have a row with Ms Maclaren.

Police were called and the striker, who played 13 time for England, was arrested.

A source quoted by the Sun claimed Bent’s designer suit was ripped during the melee.

Bent was on his way to the Sky Sports studios to work as a pundit when he was said to have called in at the eight-bedroom £2million family home in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, in December.

It was also claimed Ms Maclaren’s £600,000 engagement ring went missing following the row.

Bent was released from police custody without charge, it was said.

The footballer, who has also played for Sunderland, Derby and Brighton, reportedly cheated on Ms Maclaren just days before she gave birth to their twins.

He was also recently linked to three other women around the Birmingham area.

Bent, who is currently on loan at League One Burton Albion from Derby County, married Ms Maclaren at Ely Cathedral in Cambridgeshire in 2013.

The model was previously engaged to Bent’s ex-Villa teammate Liam Ridgewell but dramatically ended their relationship eight days before their £170,000 wedding.

She had two children, Luca and Eva Summer, with Ridgewell who lived with their mother and Bent.

In 2014 Bent had two top-of-the-range cars worth £160,000 stolen after burglars raided his home while the family slept.

The burglars swiped keys to a high-spec Range Rover and a luxury Audi RS6, both worth around £80,000, before driving them from the driveway.
