GAME Of Thrones stars already hinted that they were disappointed by series eight in unearthed interviews from before it began airing.
In a compilation video put together by The Sun Online, it seems that the cast might have already been trying to prepare fans for the disappointment of the final season.
In one interview Daenerys Targaryen actress, Emilia Clarke, stands with her co-stars Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei) and Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm) when she’s asked whether she’s happy with her final scenes.
“Yes,” Nathalie replies.
However, Emilia grimaces and giggles before jokingly saying: “Best season ever.”
Similarly, Liam Cunningham (Ser Davos), Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark) and Conleth Hill (Varys) all burst out laughing when quizzed about the ‘outcome’ of the show.
And Kit Harrington, who plays fan favourite Jon Snow, even labelled the series ‘disappointing’ when asked if he could describe the series finale in one word.
He said: “Disappointing.” He later backtracked by saying that he would use the word ‘Epic’.
During the epic Battle Of Winterfell that took place in episode three of the final season, Tyrion Lannister was among the women and children hiding in the crypt from the white walkers, however Peter Dinklage who plays the dwarf, mocked the lack of thought that went into the scene.
He said: “It’s terrifying down there. We’re in a crypt, nobody thought of that. He’s bringing all the dead people back to life and they’ve put the women and children in a crypt with all the dead people.”
Meanwhile Ian McElhinney, who played Ser Barristan Selmy in the show, expressed how disappointed he was that his character was killed of in season five.
He said: “I was gutted, because a number of you I’m sure have read the books and I have reason to expect ‘oh I’ve got a journey here’.
“In fact if I’m being honest I thought, ‘I am really looking forward to this season because I’m going to have more to do, I’m going to get my teeth into something that I’m really looking forward to because I’ve read the books.”
He continued: “I did ask and give an argument as to why I thought Barristan should stay, but at the end of the day Dan and David had worked out what they wanted to do.”
But, most hilariously the clip showing Peter Dinklage being asked about the show’s ending seems almost as if his response has been scripted.
“There are no better writers in television than Dan Weiss and David Benioff. They ended it brilliantly, better than I could’ve imagined and you people are in for it,” he responded in a monotone voice.
Earlier today, it was revealed that a fan named Dylan D had started a petition on Change.org asking HBO to remake the entirety of season 8 with new writers.
The petition is called “Remake Game of Thrones season 8 with competent writers” and has reached hundreds of thousands of signatures in a short space of time.
Game of Thrones writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have been heavily criticised recently because fans aren’t happy with what is happening to their favourite characters.
The petition states: “David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on.
“This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!”
Since the petition was launched earlier today, it has received over 400,000 signatures- with the numbers continuing to rise.
