Maurzio Sarri has shunned him for most of the season, but the Italian brought him off the bench to allow the Stamford Bridge faithful to say their farewells during the win over Watford.

The former England defender is determined to prove he can still cut it in the Prem.

And the Daily Mail claim Burnley are ready to throw the free agent a chance.

Cahill has made only eight appearances in all competitions this campaign and seems unlikely to add to that total.

However, he has worked tirelessly to ensure his fitness levels remain high.

And Clarets boss Sean Dyche would love to add another experienced head to his squad.

He signed Peter Crouch, 38, from Stoke in January and could offer the striker another year aswell.

Dyche is also aware a number of sides are looking at a potential move for his Three Lions centre-back James Tarkowski.

And if they opt to accept a large offer for him then Cahill could provide a useful replacement.

But the former Bolton man would need to take a pay cut in order to join Burnley.

And with several other clubs interested, he is expected to weigh-up all of his options before deciding on his future.
