It fell over just 600 metres into the 3.2km track, only two years after making its racing debut in Ireland.

Racing.com’s editor-in-chief Shane Anderson confirmed the development.

‘Horrible news. The Cliffsofmoher suffered a fractured right shoulder when injured in the Melbourne Cup, unfortunately could not be saved. Thoughts with connections,’ he tweeted.
