A hotel worker raped and sexually assaulted five women over an 18-month period after giving them drinks which made them black out, a court heard today.
Tom Wade-Allison, now 25, made drinks for some of the victims which left them ‘blank’ and exhausted, a jury was told at Exeter Crown Court.
Prosecutor Lee Bremridge said: ‘This case is about the sexual assault, rape and attempted rape of five young women during a period of 18 months in 2016 and 2017.’
The alleged sex attacks happened in two villages in Somerset and in Honiton, East Devon, and the victims were aged between 17 and 20 at the time, the court heard.

One of the alleged rape victims gave evidence and said she ended up naked in his bed where they had had sex.
She said: ‘Tom made me a G&T. I did not see him make it. I drank it.
‘I just cannot really remember after that. In the morning I woke up naked next to him. I don’t know what had happened before, it was pretty strange.
‘We had intercourse again. I was not really conscious.’
She added that she fell asleep but he pulled off the covers and told her to leave. She told the court: ‘I had no idea what was happening. I was freaking out.
‘My body was willing and my body was having sex but my head was not.’
The alleged victim said she had never blacked out through drinking before that night.
Mr Bremridge said a common feature of the case was that the young women would become very drunk very quickly.
Another woman claimed Wade-Allison asked her to try a new drink he had made.
She said she tried to go to bed but struggled to get up the stairs, saying ‘it was just too much effort’.

Mr Bremridge told the court that Wade Allison from Martock, Somerset, took sexual advantage of the young women when they were in a state or because of the state he deliberately got them into.
He said the victims were not in a fit state to agree to what he allegedly did to them.
The police launched an investigation after one woman ended up in hospital after she blacked out with no memory of the night.
CCTV showed Wade-Allison holding her up as she stumbled along a road back to his room and once there he is alleged to have stripped her and sexually assaulted her.
As the police made inquiries four other young women came forward claiming that ‘similar things had happened to them’.
Wade-Allison denies 16 sex charges and his trial continues.
