According to Boise Police Chief Ryan Lee, Bergquist was known to police from previous reports of disorderly conduct or trespassing.

Though Berquist never worked at the mall, he was frequently there and had been contacted by security guards about disorderly behavior, Lee added.

Bergquist’s cause of death was still pending, according to coroner Dotti Owens.

SECURITY GUARD SHOT

Owens also identified one of the victims as Jo Acker, 26, a security guard who worked in the mall, whose family members said she died while trying to stop the shooter.

Another victim was identified as Roberto Padilla Argueles, 49, from Rupert, Idaho.

Four other people were injured, three of whom are women with non-life-threatening injuries.

Acker’s sister, Shawna Lannigan, wrote on Facebook on Tuesday that Acker, who identified as a trans woman, had an “enormous heart of gold.”

She added: “You were and are and always will be a hero. I love you to the ends of this earth and beyond.”

The Boise Police Department first got the call that shots had been fired at the Boise Towne Square Mall at about 1:50 p.m. on Monday.

According to reports, callers said they had seen a white man dressed in black, carrying multiple guns.

‘CARRYING MULTIPLE GUNS’

In a statement released on Tuesday, police said evidence shows the shooter first contacted a security guard, who was then shot and killed at the scene.

Police added that the shooter then fire several rounds, hitting a glass escalator and a second victim.

The shooter then walked through the mall, firing rounds into the floor, which led to a 52-year-old woman and a 23-year-old woman being injured.

Another man was injured when he fell while trying to escape the mall.
