Identical triplets jailed over plot to supply Uzi gun despite DNA dead-end

IDENTICAL triplets were jailed for a total of 46 years yesterday over a plot to supply an Uzi sub-machine gun and a loaded pistol.

Non-league footballers Reiss, Ralston and Ricky Gabriel, 28, were part of a gang who tried to arm a ruthless gangster.

Police seized weapons, including a 9mm Uzi, a silencer, a loaded pistol and ammunition.

DNA from the pistol matched the brothers, but officers were unable to prove which one because of their identical genetic code.

Investigation of mobile phones and surveillance established all three had handled the firearms.

The brothers joked with each other in the dock as they were sentenced at Blackfriars crown court, South London.

They had been convicted in July of conspiracy to possess firearms with intent to endanger life.

Ricky and Ralston were jailed for 14 years. Reiss got 18 years after also admitting possessing a handgun and two counts of supplying Class A drugs.

Judge John Hillen told them: “You were involved in an agreement to source and deliver weapons to an extremely dangerous criminal, Aron Thomas, for his use.”

The brothers played for North London-based Brimsdown FC. Semi-pro Ricky went on to join Isthmian League side Enfield Town in 2015.

In total, eight men have been jailed after an intelligence-led probe. Cops seized the guns in a swoop on a courier in North London in 2017.

At the time, Thomas, 32, of Holloway, North London, was on licence from jail after shooting at a crowd. He got a life sentence last year after being convicted of possessing firearms.
