Inside the £1 million home Meghan Markle left behind in Toronto… and it’s fit for a princess

MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry will soon be moving house from Kensington Palace to a 10-bedroom home in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

But this won’t be the first move for the Duchess of Sussex in the past two years, as she left behind a very girly pad in Toronto just before she and Prince Harry got engaged.

Meghan Markle’s former Canadian home was put up for sale last December and was eventually snapped up for $1.6 million (£953,289).

The two-storey townhouse was a place Meghan called home when she was starring in Suits as paralegal Rachel Zane.

And Prince Harry even stayed there when he visited his then-girlfriend in secret.

On the property listing, we can see that the gorgeous pad has now been stripped of Meghan’s beautiful décor, but she did give us some sneaky inside pictures on her then-Instagram of how it looked.

It was said to be decked out “like a California bungalow” and sold in less than a week of being on the market.

The three-bedroom, two bathroom Toronto home had a very feminine feel, with lots of flowers, gilded mirrors, a pink striped rug in the hallway and chic white furniture.

The former actress, who rented the house in the city’s west end for at least two years, is clearly a fan of reading, as the home was full of books kept all over the house.

The guest room even had colour-co-ordinated books on the shelves, adding a splash of life to the white-painted room.

Her minimalistic bedroom featured crisp white bed linen and a large mirror that she was known to take selfies in.

The home also includes an eat-in kitchen, a picturesque, landscaped garden, a basement and a two-car garage.

Meghan also had a walk-in wardrobe fit for a princess… featuring an entire WALL devoted to her envy-inducing high heels

In true Hollywood fashion, the Suits starlet also had a lavish walk-in wardrobe where she devoted an entire wall to her enviable collection of high heels.

Maintaining the minimal colour scheme, Meghan’s wardrobe featured bright white walls and marble floors for a luxurious feel.

Like a woman after our own hearts, Meghan covered every surface with fresh flowers (pink peonies were a particular favourite) as well having plenty of luxury candles on display for an understated touch.

Currently Meghan Markle and Prince Harry live in the cosy Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace – but this is set to change.

The expecting parents will move into Frogmore Cottage in 2019, before their baby is born.

Frogmore Cottage sits in the grounds of Frogmore House which played host to the private evening reception on their wedding day.

It is understood that they want to bring up a family away from the “goldfish bowl” of London and start a life more privately.

The cottage is currently being renovated and when it’s finished will be a luxurious ten-bedroom home boasting a yoga studio and new nursery.

However, there has been speculation over a rift between The Duke and Duchess of Sussex (Harry and Meghan) and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (Kate and William).

Some are putting the move down to their differences, suggesting the two Duchesses don’t get along.

Nobody official has confirmed there is a rift however.
