ITV boss apologises for dressing up as Jamal Khashoggi’s ‘blood-stained Saudi executioner’ at Jonathan Ross Halloween bash

AN ITV comedy boss has apologised for dressing as a Saudi executioner at Jonathan Ross’ Halloween party.

Asif Zubairy, head of commissioning for comedy and entertainment, arrived at the celebrity bash in a bloodied jacket, waving a severed hand.

The 57-year-old wore the gory outfit hours after grim details emerged of journalist Jamal Khashoggi’s death in the Saudi consulate in Turkey.

Mr Zubairy, who commissions  ITV’s popular entertainment programmes, was accused of  “appalling insensitivity”.

Former chairman of the Committee on Standards in Public Life Sir Alistair Graham said: “It’s truly shocking that someone of his experience had such a crass understanding of what was acceptable.”

Last night he said sorry, telling the Daily Mail: “I’m a private individual who attended a private party.

“I realise my Halloween costume may have offended some people, for which I apologise.”

Zubairy has worked with Jonathan on TV shows such as Don’t Ask Me Ask Britain.

His other TV credits include Strictly: It Takes Two, Celebrity Juice, Big Brother and Australia’s Got Talent.

The headdress he wore is similar to that worn by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman Al Saud, amid claims the ruler’s top aide’s oversaw the murder.

Jonathan Ross’s Halloween party has become an annual fixture for celebs and his pals.

David Tennant, Shirley Ballas and Keith Lemon led the stars last night.

Strictly’s head judge Shirley, 58,  stole the show dressed as Catwoman in a PVC catsuit, complete with face paint.

Reality star Ashley James turned heads dressed as a sexy harlequin with a black and white corset.

Keith Lemon dressed as Venom and Louis Theroux came as Count Dracula.

An archway was erected in front of the 57-year-old’s Hampstead home, with an image of a scary clown looking down on guests as they arrived.

Last night guests posted on Instagram as they danced to a DJ and sang karaoke.
