The former cyclist Jan Ullrich, the only German winner of the Tour de France, in 1997, was arrested Friday in the Balearic islands, suspected to be entered by force the home of his neighbor and threatened, announced the Spanish police Saturday
Ullrich, 44 years old, was arrested in the afternoon for “intrusion of force and threats” against its neighbour, Palma de Mallorca, told AFP a spokesman of the police, without providing more details on this event.
According to the press, said neighbor would be the actor and the German director Til Schweiger, an information not confirmed by the police. Ullrich had to be heard by a judge later in the day on Saturday. Ullrich, also winner of the Vuelta in 1999 and olympic champion in Sydney 2000, saw the end of his career tarnished by his involvement in the Puerto affair of doping organized.
In may 2006, its name appears in this case, a network of blood doping, alleged organized around the Spanish physician Eufemiano Fuentes. It is excluded from the Tour de France on the eve of departure, and will announce in February 2007 to his retirement. A year later, he will be convinced of doping by the Court of arbitration for sport (CAS) and all of his results after may 2005 will be cancelled.
In 2013, after years of denials, it will eventually recognize the use of performance-enhancing drugs.
