JBS cyberattack updates – ‘Russian’ REvil group ‘likely behind’ hack on meat supplier forcing US beef plant closures

A WELL-KNOWN Russia-linked hacker group called REvil Group is allegedly behind the cyberattack on JBS.

It is believed to be based in a former Soviet state, according to a source speaking to CNBC.

All of JBS USA’s plants have been shut down in the states as a result of Sunday’s cyberattack, according to the United Food & Commercial Workers. It is the world’s biggest meat supplier.

JBS USA said in a statement from Greeley, Colorado, it was the target of an “organized cybersecurity attack” affecting some of its servers supporting its North American and Australian IT systems.

“The company’s backup servers were not affected and it is actively working with an Incident Response firm to restore its systems as soon as possible,” the statement said.
