BRITAIN is piling the pressure on Saudi Arabia after the regime is widely suspected of ordering the brutal murder of reporter Jamal Khashoggi in its own embassy in Turkey.
Foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt and Saudi King Salman were pictured smiling cautiously at one another yesterday.
The minister, who flew to capital Riyadh for the meeting, is also due to speak with the country’s powerful Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman about the killing of the critical journalist.
Speaking before the tricky diplomatic trip, Mr Hunt said: “We encourage the Saudi authorities to cooperate fully with the Turkish investigation into his death, so that we deliver justice for his family and the watching world.”
He also plans to visit the United Arab Emirates in a bid to try to broker a ceasefire in war-torn Yemen during his visit to the region.
