JUVENTUS will be hoping Cristiano Ronaldo can make an impact like their other new striker did on Wednesday.
Andrea Favilli, the 21-year-old signed from Ascoli, pounced on two Bayern errors to fire Juve to victory in Philadelphia.
The Italy U21 star slotted home in the 32nd and 40th minute, taking advantage of playing time in the black and white shirt before the big guns return.
Favilli, a £6.7m capture, will have to force his way past Ronaldo, Mario Mandzukic and Gonzalo Higuain to play for the first team.
And he did all that was asked of him in slotting home twice to put Bayern to the sword at Lincoln Financial Field.
Neither side were near full strength for the battle between Italian and German champions at the home of the reigning NFL champions.
Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery played a half each for Bayern while former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can had 45 minutes for Juve.
Bayern pressed to force their way back into the game in the second half but couldn’t breach Juventus’ stern defence.
Robert Kovac’s side face Manchester City on Saturday night while Juventus take on Benfica.
The Italians also face Ronaldo’s former team Real Madrid, but the 33-year-old will not play in the blockbuster clash.
