Kate has been open about how she has struggled with being a step-mum to Rio’s three children as well as being being pregnant while facing mental health battles.

In September, she candidly discussed battling anxiety and ‘really struggling’ during her first trimester on the Women’s Health Going for Goal podcast.

She said: ‘Lockdown has been an experience. Obviously I was pregnant and the children didn’t know, and something I’ve struggled with is being pregnant with my first biological child and still being a mum.

‘So I felt I had all these new experiences… but I was still a stepmother or mother figure to three kids. I struggle with my mental health. Being active helps day-to-day with my anxiety, so when I can’t do things, I struggle with it.’

She added: ‘I am quite emotional. I feel a little bit insecure. I feel like not like me, and I struggled with that for a little while… feeling insecure with just how I look and my changing body, and I know it sounds very superficial… but struggling how to dress for this… Everything that you know has changed.’

The star gave her first interview after announcing her pregnancy to MailOnline in June where she said she was ‘tired’ but ‘listening to her body’.

Talking about how her energy has changed since becoming pregnant, she said: ‘I think being pregnant it does change, you are a bit more tired at times but I try to stay active as it’s good for my mind.

‘We go for walks with the family, stuff like that, it doesn’t always have to be crazy exercise just as long as you’re moving more than you’re sitting, you still feel good.’

The star regularly posts her workouts with husband Rio to Instagram and they even have a Ferdinand Fitness YouTube channel.

Talking about whether her fitness regime would change during her pregnancy, Kate said: ‘I think you have to be really careful, take advice form professionals. I definitely don’t think it can stay the same, it has definitely changed.

‘I’m working out at a lot slower pace and taking it easy, listening to my body really.’

Kate also revealed that there could be a potential for future pregnancy workouts to help any of her followers who are also expecting a child.

She said: ‘Potentially in the future… obviously I’m not a personal trainer and I’m not qualified in that. It will just have to be the right advice going forward.

‘At the moment, I’m a bit quiet on social media, I’m just enjoying my time with the family and things like that before lockdown goes crazy again.’
