The queen of soul is gone, but she leaves behind great moments of music. In December 2015, on the stage of the Kennedy Center Honors, Aretha Franklin had paid tribute to Carole King, the co-author (with Gerry Goffin) of the song “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman”, awarded this evening. Sitting at the piano, the fur coat on the shoulders, she had delivered a breathtaking performance, to which Carole King was content his enthusiasm. But she was not the only one not to hold back his emotions : u.s. president Barack Obama had wiped a tear from the first words of this title, of which he has incorporated some verses, like his wife Michelle Obama.
This was not the first time that Barack Obama attended a performance of Aretha Franklin. She was honoured to sing at his inauguration ceremony in January 2009, the first day of his first term as the president of the United States. She had sung “America (My Country Tis Of Thee)”.
A few months earlier, in September 2008, it was him who had sang to her : it had sung a few words of “Chain of Fools” at a rally in Detroit, the city where is born the Motown label.
