IF you thought Lionel Messi couldn’t score while hanging upside down from a wire 30 metres in the air, breathing out fire and twirling hoola hoops around his neck — you’re about to be proven wrong.
The Argentina international and Barcelona icon has announced a partnership with acrobat spectacular showmen Cirque de Soleil.
The 31-year-old, considered one of the greatest players of all time, shared a short video of himself juggling a clown nose, wearing a t-shirt featuring the company’s logo.
He said on Insta a new show would be created “based on my life and passion for football.”
He added in a statement: “It feels both crazy and incredible that Cirque du Soleil will create a show based on my life, my passion, my sport.
“Cirque du Soleil is a family favourite of ours. I have no doubt this show will amaze people as their shows always do.”

Messi has been in top form this season, netting 11 so far this term and two in Barcelona’s stunning 4-2 win over Tottenham in the Champions League.
He is putting his feet up during the international break after a long season that included a poor showing for Argentina at the World Cup.
Football and art have a famously mixed outcome, after Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo had statues that were mocked.
Meanwhile Manchester United’s portrait from the 1990s remains one of the most famous artworks.
Messi also received praise from Wayne Rooney, with the England legend putting him ahead of former team-mate Ronaldo in the greatest players he has ever faced.
Rooney said: “In my eyes they are the best team ever and Messi is the best player ever.
“What he gets to do is incredible. Messi has just got a bit of everything.”
