JOE GOMEZ hobbled to hospital earlier today wearing a boot and crutches after breaking his lower left leg last night.
The Reds star, 21, smashed into the advertising boards following a heavy tackle in Liverpool’s 3-1 win away to Burnley and could now miss months of football.
England star Gomez was taken off on a stretcher with Jurgen Klopp worried the injury would keep him out for a while, having already missed the World Cup this year.
The German boss went on to slam Burnley’s heavy-handed tactics during the game at Turf Moor – with Liverpool forced to fight from a goal down to win.
After the game, Klopp claimed: “I said to the referee after the first sliding tackle, when he got the ball and everyone liked it: ‘Please, tell them they cannot do that.’
“It wasn’t a foul but they cannot do that. It’s like bowling because then four or five times it happened.
“Joe is injured and probably not only a little bit.
“We have to see, we don’t know in the moment. We sent him home.”
Klopp went on to say: “Aggression is a part of football but be careful. Sliding over six or seven yards: these times are over. Usually someone will not let you do that.
“We all want to win and you can choose different ways but someone needs to say: ‘Stop doing that’. Make two more steps and then you are in a normal challenge.

“Don’t go five yards before you see the player when the grass is wet.
“It’s unlucky what happened to Joe but the referees have to make sure it doesn’t happen consistently. That’s not how it should be.”
Ex-Charlton ace Gomez has formed a seemingly impenetrable partnership with Virgil van Dijk this season.
His absence will be a major blow for Liverpool’s title hopes, with fans – and Klopp – hoping he won’t be ruled out for too long.
The Reds are locked in a Premier League title battle with Manchester City, currently just two points adrift after 15 games.
