What will happen on Love Island tonight?

Tonight’s show will kick off at 9pm on ITV2

The launch show always sees the first set of couples put together.

Each year either the girls will choose or the boys – this year is the boys turn for picking.

This means all five of the girls will stand in a line, and each boy will come out in turn.

The girls will then step forward if they like the boy and then he will pick his favourite girl.

He can still chose a girl who didn’t step forward for him.

As there are seven boys and five girls, two boys will not be in a couple, meaning they will have to crack on to make sure they are not first to leave the villa.

What changes have been made to Love Island?

Many changes have been implemented in this series.

For a start, the 2019 series has more contestants from ethnic minority backgrounds – something the show was previously criticised for lacking.

2018 contestant Samira Mighty told the BBC:”When I was on Love Island, there was a lot about me being the only dark skinned girl but it didn’t really faze me much.

“I think it would be great to see a lot more races in there… also you have got to remember they’ve got a show to make. They will pick personalities.”

The show also appears to have taken steps towards more body diversity.

Iranian Instagram star Anna Vikili has a noticeably curvier frame than her fellow contestants.

There will also be more aftercare for the show’s stars when they leave the villa in the wake of Mike Thalassitis‘ death.
