MANCHESTER UNITED will only make an approach to sign Tanguy Ndombele once Paul Pogba’s future is resolved, according to reports.
The Old Trafford club are understood to be keen on the Lyon midfielder, who has enjoyed a fine season for the Ligue 1 club.
But any potential move needs to be put on hold until United know what is happening with Pogba – but by then it may well be too late.
The £89million man, 26, endured another turbulent season this time around – despite finishing top scorer and assist maker, he was heavily criticised for his poor attitude under Jose Mourinho and for failing to perform late on in the season.
And there have been plenty of reports linking Pogba with a switch to Real Madrid this summer – especially now that Zinedine Zidane is back in the dugout.
The French pair would surely love to work together but, as revealed by SunSport, Pogba has been told he must submit a transfer request in order to force through a move.
And it is only once the Old Trafford club know what is happening with Pogba that they can begin to make plans to sign Ndombele.
According to the Metro, the Lyon man could be lined up as a replacement for his fellow French midfielder, despite his more defensive-minded game.
Manchester United, though, have already lost a similar midfielder in Ander Herrera this summer meaning they are on the hunt for someone who can sit in midfield and help dictate play.
But it is understood Paris Saint-Germain have already made initial steps to try and lure Ndombele from Lyon to the Parc des Princes this summer.

Boss Thomas Tuchel and president Nasser Al-Khelaifi are both thought to be keen to make it happen.
Tottenham have also made an approach to sign him and reportedly made a contract offer.
But both Spurs and Manchester City – who viewed Ndombele as a long-term successor to Fernandinho – are behind Juventus in the race for his signature.
