And Murphy believes Howe, 40, deserves a shot at an elite club after impressing again with Bournemouth, who are sixth in the league.

He told talkSPORT: “I would be absolutely amazed if Eddie Howe isn’t at one of the big clubs in the next few years.

“He’s a proven Premier League manager and he’s as talented as anyone out there.

“Someone’s got to take a risk, but I think he has proven for five years in the Premier League that he has what it takes.

Jose Mourinho is under extreme pressure at Old Trafford

“I would have absolutely no problem with him going to a big club and doing well.

“He’s calm, intelligent, humble, works with players and tactically he is prepared to change in games.

“He hasn’t got an ego – he’s likeable, yet assertive and confident in what he does and that’s really good combination to deal with big players.

“If one of the bigger clubs took a risk with him, I don’t think he would let them down.”

Danny Murphy spoke to talkSPORT about the Cherries boss

The Cherries smashed Watford 4-0 on Sunday and Murphy raved about their recruitment policy.

He added: “What I love the most at Bournemouth is their recruitment – they have a good nucleus of British players.

“11 of their 16-man squad against Watford this weekend were British and I think Eddie Howe deserves more credit than he gets.

“Have we got good English players if the recruitment teams are right in the Premier League? Yes – Bournemouth are proving that.

“Have we got good English coaches? Yes we have, Eddie Howe is proving that.”
