A MARINE’S career was ruined and his life made hell after a fraudster stole his identity and sent lewd photos to women.
Decorator Graeme Brandon, 44, pretended to be Steele Saunders to send pics of his private parts to 27 women on WhatsApp.
The women, aged 27 to 75, felt “distressed and violated” and Mr Saunders was shouted at in the street and had his car vandalised by vigilantes.
The stress made him quit the forces.
He told Bournemouth crown court: “When I was out with my family people recognised my face and started shouting things like ‘paedo’.”
He said: “The thought that people were doubting me was unbearable.
“I have had my car damaged, nails in tyres and wiper blades pulled off.

“I have had numerous threats from people who contacted me believing I was responsible and I have felt helpless in trying to clear my name and trying to convince people I was not responsible.
“As a direct result of what has happened it is hard to put down into words the effect this had had on my life and my mental health.”
He wept after Brandon, of Bournemouth, admitted sending indecent images and unauthorised access to data and was jailed for 30 months.
