Marks & Spencer launches spicy Chicken Vindaloo sandwich – but not everyone is impressed

MARKS and Spencer has launched spicy KEBAB SHOP and CHICKEN VINDALOO sandwiches — sending some customers into a red-faced meltdown.

But M&S has followed it up by announcing it is planning on bringing out the spiced mint lamb doner meat one.

It’s led to some shoppers at the swanky supermarket to post a slew of heated comments online about the fiery new flavours.

M&S tweeted: “We’re planning a sandwich showdown.

“Vote for our next flavour and only the winner will get its chance to shine on shelves.

“What will you pick: Kebab Shop with spiced lamb OR a BBQ classic, Smokehouse Chicken?

“Pick your #MyMarksFave – the winner will be in store later this month!”

Nearly 20,000 people have voted and Smokehouse Chicken has 67 per cent of the vote.

But one customer said: “You continue to become down market.”

David Somersby asked: “Kebab shop!!! What are we??”

Another customer ranted: “Neither get my vote – something delicious and vegetarian please!!! How hard can it be??!!”

Sally Jones fumed: “Cold lamb” with an ill-face emoji.

One shopper even accused M&S of cultural appropriation adding: “No doubt you will go out of your way to offend the Turkish and Aussies which ever is picked.”

It comes days after M&S proudly announced the vindaloo sarnie is already on sale.

It tweeted: “Red alert. Is this the hottest sandwich in the world?

“Our new Chicken Vindaloo Sandwich is hotter than hot. Packed with marinated chicken, a FIERY tomato sauce and chargrilled red peppers.

“Tag a friend to take the spicy sarnie challenge – can they stand the heat?”

One shopper Jason said: “Had that new M&S chicken vindaloo sandwich for lunch and didn’t think it would be that punchy, but it has proper f****d me up.”

Mitchell Robson added: “Why did I think buying M&S new Vindaloo sandwich would be a good idea, sweating like a pig on a spit roast, mouths on fire.

“Teach me for doing the typical ‘Oh I can handle spice’ like the moron I am #d***head #somuchpain.”

It comes after M&S faced a backlash last week over its LGBT sarnie.

An M&S spokesman said: “M&S offers over 70 different sandwich options, with favourite fillings such as Prawn Mayo, BLT and Cheddar Cheese Ploughman’s dominating our bestsellers.

“Each season we introduce new fillings to the range and for this summer we’re adding eight street food inspired sandwiches and wraps and are asking customers to help us choose the flavours they’d most like to see in store.”

One person even went as far as labelling the new flavours ‘gunk rubbish’ in contrast to a ‘good clean cheese and onion sandwich’[/caption]
